 Coaches
Head Coach: Xiaoping Lu
Xiaoping began his coaching career in 1978 as the professional coach of the Chinese Navy Swimming Team and the Liberation Army Swimming Team (top team in China ). He subsequently became the director of the Chinese Navy Swimming Team,. a position which he held for 5 years. During his time as coach of the Chinese Navy Swimming Team, several of his athletes broke national record and his team held the top fourth spot in China .

Xiaoping graduated from the Shanghai Physical and Culture University in China majoring in swim coaching. Xiaoping has been coaching the Gators Swim Club for the last six years. Under his tutelage his swimmers have received provincial and national recognition. In July of 2003 one of his swimmers received three silver medals in the Club Nationals in Calgary . During 2004 to 2009 season, Xiaoping's swimmers got several gold, silver and bronze medals in national and international meet. Xiaoping is also selected to coach BC Team to attend 2005 Canada Games and the 2008 BC vs. Alberta dual meet.

In 2006 season, Xiaoping was selected as head coach of BC team to attend Paul Bergen Junior International and his swimmers got two gold meddles and two fourth. Further more, as coach of Canadian Junior National Australia Tour Team, Xiaoping attend Victoria State Championships Open and his group got several gold, silver and bronze meddles and broke girls 5X 50 free relay Victoria State record. Xiaoping also received Canadian Swimming Coaches & Teachers Association 2006 and 2008 Speedo Domestic Excellence Award.

 
Assistant Coach: Petya Pencheva
Petya, our coach for the Age group, comes to Gators with over 19 years of dedicated experience in swim coaching in Canada and Europe. Petya has a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, with a major in Swimming Training; and has been a certifed Member of the Canadian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association since 2008. Petya is multilingual, fluent in English, Bulgarian, and Greek

 
Assistant Coach: Aleksandar Sladojevic (Alex)
Alex graduated from the University of Sport and Physical Education in Serbia with a major in Education, Sport and Recreation. He is trying to use his theoretical knowledge supplemented by practical experience in coordinating and conducting swimming programs. He was swimming and coaching in Serbia as well. This season is his third season working with Gators swimmers. When working with swimmers, he is compassionate but tries to continually push them to their limits when coaching. He believes that with constant and passionate work improvement will be seen. He is very happy to work with Gators' committed and friendly coaches.

 
Assistant Coach: Leonard Li
Leonard, our coach for the Crocodile and Gecko B groups, comes to Gators with a background not only in competative swimming, but also life guarding, marathon and triathalon. He represented the Hong Kong National Triathalon Team from 2001 to 2005, culminating in a number 1 ranking overal in the Asian National Triathalon Championships in 2005.

 
Assistant Coach: Natalie Cheung
Natalie, our coach for the Gecko C group, comes to Gators with a background not only in competative swimming, but also life guarding, Hip Hop, Kick Boxing, and outdoor adventure/survival. Prior to joining the Gators, Natalie worked at both the Vancouver Viking and the Percy Normal Swim clubs. Natalie swam in the Provincial and Regional Swimming Championships from August 2005 to 2008. Natalie is able to speak English and Cantonese fluently, and can hold conversations in Mandarin.
